The Sanitaire® AMX Series Turbo Blower combines proven airfoil bearing efficiency with advanced magnetic bearing technology to deliver reliable, high-frequency start-stop performance for wastewater treatment processes. This innovative bearing design extends the blower service life, reduces maintenance and downtime, lowers operating costs, and supports compliance with increasingly stringent nutrient removal and energy efficiency requirements.
Aeration is typically the largest energy consumer in a wastewater treatment plant, making blower performance critical to both operational efficiency and treatment reliability.
The Sanitaire AMX Series Turbo Blower includes a unique bi-directional air foil bearing featuring Nano Silver Triple Treatment Bearing (NSTB+) coating with added magnetic bearing technology. This combined bearing design solves the limitations of conventional air foil bearings—friction and wear during frequent start-stop cycles—by engaging the magnetic bearing only when needed avoiding the complexity and high capital cost associated with full magnetic bearing systems. The result is a blower specifically engineered for demanding applications such as sequencing batch reactors (SBRs), intermittent aeration, and other high-cycle processes where conventional air bearing blowers experience increased wear.
The Sanitaire AMX Series design delivers the best of both technologies: the simplicity and efficiency of air foil bearing blowers combined with the durability and stability of magnetic bearing blowers. Treatment plants benefit from longer bearing life, lower maintenance requirements, reduced operational risk, and optimized total cost of ownership.
Sanitaire Turbo Blowers include a direct-drive, single-stage centrifugal design that eliminates the gears found in many traditional turbo blowers. A high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is directly coupled to a precision-engineered aluminum alloy impeller and controlled through an integrated variable frequency drive (VFD), enabling precise airflow control while reducing mechanical complexity.
Unlike conventional systems, the integrated airflow meter eliminates the need for separate airflow measurement equipment, simplifying installation while reducing equipment and maintenance costs.
Available in sizes from 7.5 to 736 kW with airflow capacities from 300 to 40,000 m³/hr per blower, the Sanitaire AMX Series Turbo Blower can meet oxygen demands for facilities serving approximately 5,000 to more than 1.5 million population equivalents (PE).
With a broad range of models available, systems can be sized more accurately to process requirements, improving efficiency while avoiding unnecessary energy consumption and operational costs associated with oversized or undersized equipment.
