The Role:  Sales Engineer  

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

 

Through a local partnership, Xylem is in the process of establishing a production facility in Egypt, where selected product lines of the Xylem portfolio will be locally manufactured.

 

Xylem Water Solutions SA seeks to appoint a Sales Engineer for the North and West Africa region, located in Nigeria.  

The Purpose of the position is to build strong, close and sincere relationships within our customer base and distribution network, and also to offer sound sales & technical assistance to distributors and end users. The position also purpose to seek, cold call and find new business opportunities and to ensure proper stock management support to customers and distributors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Seek, identify and prioritize new potential clients.
  • Negotiate market segment and / or areas of new potential clients.
  • When running marketing campaigns with business partners, ensure adequate stock levels to support these campaigns.
  • Provide sound technical advice and application support to customers and distributors.
  • Presentations to customers, distributors, engineers, contractors, consultants, project developers, property developers, facility managers and internal staff on product and application information.
  • Assist with design of pumping systems, pump stations and other water handling scenarios.
  • Conduct fault finding and pump audits.
  • Conduct energy audits and compile energy models 
  • Ensure quotations and / or offers get communicated efficiently to customers and distributors.
  • Provide accurate, relevant and up to date market and sales information.
  • Update and manage CRM software (Salesforce)
  • Submission of weekly reports

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric / Equivalent.
  • Must be computer literate (MS Office).
  • Minimum N6-T3 Technical qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years technical sales experience in the engineering industry.
  • Sound knowledge of applications and working of various pumps.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the pumping industry is Mandatory.
  • Certification in client service or marketing will be advantageous.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and own car, with ability to travel local and nationally.

Skills & Competencies

  • Must have technical sales and negotiation skills.
  • Sound knowledge in fluid based technologies.
  • Sound knowledge of applications and working of various pumps.
  • Strong customer relations orientated with good problem solving abilities.
  • Must be self-driven and motivated with ability to prioritize and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work against tight deadlines to achieve results.
  • Must be able to adapt to the demands of an ever changing environment.
  • 100% commitment and focused towards professional service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience in energy efficiency initiative related to pumps will be advantageous.
  • CEM, CEA and CMVP certification would be an advantage.
